Bay Ridge is a residential neighborhood located in the southwest corner of Brooklyn that features 20th century single-family brick, limestone and stucco homes, as well as brick multi-family detached and semi-detached homes, many of which have garages and basements. Art Deco apartment buildings and newer condos also exist. Properties with views of the Bridge are sought after, and those along Shore Road are reminiscent of tree-lined Riverside Drive in Manhattan. Known for dining on Third Avenue (Restaurant Row), bars along 4th and 5th Avenues, shopping (Century 21 on 86th Street), and spectacular views of the Verrazano-Narrows Bridge, Bay Ridge is home to Fort Hamilton, New York City’s only active Army post.
